Basic Life Support training builds the core resuscitation skills healthcare professionals need when a patient experiences cardiac arrest or another life-threatening emergency. The course covers high-quality CPR, AED use, rescue breathing, and age-specific techniques for adults, children, and infants. Participants also learn how to recognize an emergency, begin appropriate interventions, and work effectively as part of a resuscitation team. BLS is commonly completed by nurses, physicians, EMTs, medical students, and other healthcare professionals who may need to respond quickly during patient emergencies.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support training provides healthcare professionals with additional skills for managing adults experiencing serious cardiovascular emergencies. The course addresses systematic assessment, cardiac arrest response, heart rhythm recognition, airway management, pharmacological interventions, and coordinated resuscitation efforts. Participants also work through scenarios that emphasize clinical decision-making, communication, and team-based care during critical events. ACLS is intended for healthcare professionals who may participate in the assessment and treatment of adults with life-threatening cardiovascular conditions.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support training focuses on recognizing and managing serious medical conditions in infants and children. The course covers pediatric assessment, respiratory emergencies, shock, cardiac arrest, resuscitation, and coordinated team response. Participants learn to recognize changes in a child’s condition and respond appropriately during pediatric emergencies. PALS is intended for healthcare professionals who may provide care to pediatric patients in emergency departments, hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare settings.
Nurses, physicians, EMTs, medical assistants, and other healthcare professionals need current BLS certification for their roles. Training reinforces CPR, AED use, and other essential resuscitation skills used during patient emergencies. Healthcare professionals who manage serious adult cardiovascular emergencies also need ACLS training to develop additional skills in patient assessment, rhythm recognition, airway management, medication use, and coordinated resuscitation.
Nursing and medical students can build important emergency response skills before and during their clinical training. BLS helps students develop a foundation in CPR and AED use, while ACLS or PALS may become relevant as their education moves into specialized areas. Having current training can also help students meet applicable clinical placement or program requirements.
Teachers, coaches, school nurses, and other staff are responsible for students when a medical emergency occurs at school, during sports, or at an extracurricular activity. CPR and AED training helps staff recognize a medical emergency, begin appropriate care, and use an AED while waiting for emergency responders to arrive. Pediatric-focused training can also help staff understand how emergency response differs for infants and children.
EMS professionals, firefighters, law enforcement officers, and other emergency personnel encounter patients who need immediate resuscitation before reaching a hospital. BLS supports essential CPR and AED response, while ACLS provides additional training for serious adult cardiovascular emergencies when those skills are part of the responder’s role. Keeping training current helps personnel maintain the skills required for their responsibilities.
Personal trainers, fitness instructors, athletic coaches, recreation staff, and wellness professionals work closely with people during physical activity. CPR and AED training prepares staff to recognize a sudden medical emergency and provide immediate assistance while emergency responders are contacted. Having trained staff on site can also contribute to a safer environment for clients, athletes, students, and other participants.
